Kumeyaay social life included cultural and religious ceremonies. The four most significant ceremonies were as follows:
“Toloache” for initiation of boys at puberty
“A-Keel” for girls’ entrance into womanhood
Eagle gathering in preparation for “Wu-Ka-ruk”
“Wu-Ka-ruk” the great ceremony of the images of the dead
Some of the other ceremonies included the Ridiculing Ceremony and Fire Ceremony.
